Marma Therapy
Marma therapy is one of the pillars of Ayurvedic treatment and a very important tool for fulfilling the very aim of Ayurveda i.e, total health. These vital points (marmas) are the seat of Prana – the driving force of life. Marmas are confluence of mansa (muscles), sira (vessels), snayu (ligaments), asthi (bones) and sandhi (joints) and ‘Prana’ reside by nature on these places. They are the sites where the three doshas (vata, pitta and kapha) are present along with their subtle forms i.e, prana, teja and ojas.
The word Marma comes from Sanskrit word ‘MRI’ meaning death and described by a Sanskrit phrase “Maryanti iti Marmani” Means that any infliction or trauma on these point may cause death or serious damage to body or health. In Marma therapy, the practitioner puts a controlled pressure on the specific points and stimulates healing related to that specific area. The amount of pressure as well as technique of pressure application varies from marma to marma. This Marma stimulation helps in removing all type of blockage in energy channels of the body.
Total 107 marma points are written in ayurvedic texts.
Homa Therapy
Homa is a Sanskrit word used here as a synonym for Yajna or the holy fire. It is a wholistic science that treats both the individual and the environment. You heal the atmosphere and the healed atmosphere heals you. This is the central idea in Homa Therapy. Yajna replenishes the nutrients that pollution robs from our environment. Homa Therapy comes from VEDAS, the most ancient divine books of knowledge known to man. The most basic Homa (Yajnya) is AGNIHOTRA and is tuned to the biorhythm of sunrise/sunset. Agnihotra is the “ energy generator” for al Homas. Performance of Agnihotra on a regular daily basis establishes the healing energies necessary for a healthy environment. Agnihotra involves preparing a small fire in a copper pyramid of fixed size and putting some grains of rice and ghee (clarified unsalted butter) into fire exactly at sunrise and sunset, accompanied by the chant of mantras. You can practice Agnihotra in your apartment, garden, office or car. It takes only a few minutes daily. Agnihotra is basic to all Homa Therapy practices. Homa Therapy also involve other simple Yajnyas.
